What is ISO 17100?

ISO 17100 is an international standard (published in May 2015) that defines the requirements for all aspects of the translation process that directly impact the quality and delivery of translation services.

Minimum Charge Policy
Depending on the character/word count and other conditions, we have a two-tier minimum charge system of 5,500 Japanese Yen or 11,000 Japanese Yen (tax included). This ensures coverage of the essential costs involved in translation coordination and quality assurance.

International Client Minimum Charge Policy. In consideration of the additional procedures involved in international transactions, we kindly ask that orders from overseas clients be limited to projects valued at ¥50,000 or more. For quotations below this amount, a minimum charge of ¥50,000 will be applied as our standard international client policy.

AI translation technology has evolved dramatically, reaching levels that would have been unimaginable just five years ago. The improvements are nothing short of remarkable.

However, no matter how advanced AI translation becomes, it still falls short of perfection. If we consider the highest-quality human translation, one done by an expert translator and meticulously reviewed by a native speaker, as 100%, AI translation currently achieves around 97% accuracy at best.

The remaining 3% represents a critical gap, one that AI, even with its neural network-based sophistication, struggles to bridge. This gap consists of subtle yet crucial elements that require human intuition, cultural awareness, and linguistic finesse, areas where AI is prone to "misinterpretations," "assumptions," and "misunderstandings." These pitfalls can significantly impact the final translation.

At NAIway, we focus precisely on this final 3%, offering a specialized service designed to refine AI-generated translations. By leveraging the expertise of seasoned translators, we ensure accuracy while maintaining fast turnaround times and cost efficiency. DTP Services (Desktop Publishing Services)

This service involves inserting translated and proofread text into the original data while adjusting the layout, fonts, and other design elements.

It is essential to provide the original data (before outlining) in formats such as Illustrator.
Please note that we cannot work with data that has already been outlined.

Our quotation includes the cost of creating the DTP data as well as several rounds of review and revisions.

Trial Translation

For first-time customers, we offer a free trial translation of up to 300 Japanese characters(source manuscript) or 200 English words(source manuscript). Any content beyond this limit will be subject to a fee.

If you are interested, we will provide a questionnaire where you can specify your requirements.

Should you decide to proceed with an order after the trial translation, we will need to adjust the delivery schedule based on the availability of our translators.

Transcription

We provide transcription services for audio and video files.

We can also translate the transcribed text and deliver the final data in various formats, including translated text only, bilingual format (original + translation), or with timecodes, depending on your needs.

What is the preferred format for the source document?

Please provide the source document in text format (text data).

Currently, we support English-to-Japanese and Japanese-to-English translation.

Can I cancel my order midway?

Cancellation is possible; however, a cancellation fee will apply.
The fee will be based on the work already completed by our team, including translators, quality controllers, and our staff.

Can you handle industry-specific terminology?

Yes. A specialized translator will review the content to ensure accurate usage of industry-specific terms and expressions.
If you provide predefined translations or reference materials in advance, our expert translators will use them as a basis for the review process.

Can I choose the translator?

Yes. If you would like to request the same translator as before, please provide their translator ID. We will check their availability and make arrangements accordingly.
However, if scheduling conflicts arise, we may not be able to accommodate your request. We appreciate your understanding.

  • After the review period for verification ends, the translation is considered final. We do not accept any claims for refunds, complimentary revisions, or fee reductions for any reason. We are not liable for any damages resulting from the delivered content.
  • If a separate written agreement is in place, its terms shall take precedence over the above.
  • AI-assisted translation tools are used only upon client request. In such cases, we rely exclusively on paid versions of tools like Google Cloud Translation and DeepL Pro. These services explicitly state that content is not stored when using paid plans. We comply with these terms and apply strict internal security and confidentiality protocols.
    Please note, however, that NAIway is not responsible for any data issues or losses resulting from the use of such tools, provided they are used in accordance with their respective terms.
